Back Pain, a Serious Medical Condition

Understanding its Symptoms

Every disease comes with symptoms and so is true of back related pain. It shows some startling symptoms that can be helpful in its diagnosis as well as treatment. Never overlook them since any carelessness can prove disastrous. Therefore be cautious and respond immediately, if you come across any symptom of back ache. Here are some of the symptoms, knowing them can make your task easier.

· Experiencing pain in back and it radiates down to toes through thigh and calf.

· Pain or stiffness along your spinal region

· Experiencing pain in neck or lower back region after a strenuous activity

· Difficulty while standing straight and feeling of severe muscle spasms

· Chronic ache in middle or lower backside after standing or sitting for a long period

If ever these symptoms surface, immediate remedial action should be resorted to. The best thing to do under these circumstances is consulting a doctor. Contacting your family physician may be an even better option.

Consequences

As long as the intensity of back pain is low, you do not feel an urgency to see a doctor. However, there are some specific warning signs, which show that it is high time to seek medical advice or opinion. Persistent problem may lead to spinal stenosis evident from a feeling of weakness or numbness while walking. In some cases, spine problems may result in bladder problems and persistent bowel. A condition of herniated disc cannot be ruled out either. Whenever there is an increase in pain intensity while coughing or bending forward, a possibility of herniated disc cannot be ignored. Similarly, if the ache persists for more than three weeks, consulting a doctor is always advisable. Some other warning signs related to muscle pain include downward pain extension along back of your leg leading to sciatica. If your condition worsens during sleep or rest with constant fever, consider such condition even more seriously. Finally, there might be an instance of a disc irritating a nerve. This shows up when your pain becomes excruciating while lifting or bending knee towards chest.

Normally, you do not pay much heed to any pain related condition. This may be because of a belief that such conditions are an outcome of your daily strenuous work regimen. It may be true, but sometimes they may prove to have far reaching consequences on your health. Back pain can be momentary and normal during initial stages. However, any negligent behavior can make it quite chronic. Do not take any uneasiness lightly instead make a sincere effort to keep yourself healthy.
